How to edit a PDF without Acrobat
Most people looking for a free PDF editor only need three things: change a wrong word, add a missing line and save the file again. VoltPDF does exactly that: the Edit text tool reads the text lines of the page, you click the one you want and retype it. On export the original text operators are removed from the page content, so the old wording is not selectable or copyable any more.
You can also write on a PDF from scratch: new text boxes, highlighter, coloured shapes, images and logos. Fonts are rendered with a standard typeface (Helvetica), so a rewritten line may look slightly different from the surrounding scanned text — everything else keeps the original layout, size and page dimensions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit text that is already in the PDF?
Yes. The Edit text tool detects the text lines of the document: you click, rewrite, and the export replaces the original text.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser, so nothing is left behind once you close the tab.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. Every tool is open: no sign-up, no page limits and no watermarks.
